Substance Use Therapy in Wisconsin and Florida

Alcohol and drug use can be a vicious cycle of pain - blissful escape - shame and judgement - more pain - and repeat. Some of us learned to pick up substances from our parents or maybe our peers. We might have watched them laugh, dance, joke with one another, and have the time of their lives. Or maybe we watched them drink a 30 rack and pass out in front of the TV. Or we pretended not to notice the needles in the trash can and watched them nod out mid conversation. Or maybe they got angry, and we watched them shift into someone we learned to hide from.

Some of us learned that alcohol and drug use was a damn good way to escape the unescapable. At least for a little while. And once our body had a taste, it craved it more and more.

The Impacts of Substance Use, Abuse, and Addiciton

My Approach to Substance Use, Abuse, and Addiction Therapy

100% sobriety is not a requirement to healing your relationship with drugs and alcohol.

I primarily use a Harm Reduction approach, meaning we focus treatment on reducing the risks and impacts of substance use without taking the substance away. The substance has played an important role in your life - despite the f*cking chaos it has led to, in some ways it has been a safe haven. So the goal isn’t to alienate this part of you, but rather learn more about it.

For clients who do want to practice 100% sobriety, I am happy to support you in reaching this goal!
